Vision
Our vision is to be the definitive international platform for photography from the Netherlands. We aspire to be a vibrant core where lively debates on photography and the profound subjects that photographers explore can flourish. Central to our identity is our extensive collection, which remains a true reflection of Dutch photography. Additionally, we take pride in our pioneering work in collection management. We are committed to being an inclusive institution, welcoming individuals from all walks of life, including those who may not typically engage with museums. Our discerning eye is drawn to photographers who question the world, providing them with a platform to share their stories through thought-provoking exhibitions, stimulating debates, and engaging activities. In doing so, we proudly serve as the ambassador of photographers from the Netherlands.
Gallery of Honour of Dutch Photography
As the first of it's kind, the Nederlands Fotomuseum in Rotterdam, opened the Gallery of Honour of Dutch Photography on 9 June 2021. It is the world's first permanent gallery to honour photography as a contemporary and topical medium. With this exhibition, the museum consolidates its position as thé national museum of photography.
