In de Eregalerij van de Nederlandse fotografie vertellen 99 iconische foto’s het verhaal van de ontwikkeling van de fotografie in Nederland vanaf 1842 tot nu. De Eregalerij toont de hoogtepunten, vernieuwingen en de enorme stappen die fotografen maakten tussen de uitvinding van de fotografie tot aan de innovaties van nu. De foto’s zijn van iconische waarde door hun maatschappelijke en artistieke betekenis.

WOMXN. More than a muze

Waar vrouwen in musea veelal het onderwerp zijn van een kunstwerk als muze, draait het project WOMXN. het juist om: vrouwen hebben de regie gekregen. Hoe zien zij zichzelf? Hoe willen zij geportretteerd worden? Wat is relevant in hun ogen? Voor het project WOMXN. heeft fotograaf Sebiha Öztaş 23 vrouwen geselecteerd om de kracht die ze uitstralen en hun maatschappelijke bijdrage aan de stad Rotterdam.

Monica Nouwens | This One Is For You Serra

Van 16 december 2023 tot en met 15 september 2024 is in het Nederlands Fotomuseum de tentoonstelling This One Is For You Serra van Monica Nouwens te zien. Speciaal voor het museum creëerde Monica Nouwens een ruimtevullende video-installatie die de bezoeker omhult in de verhalen van de straten van South East Los Angeles.

Themaroute Wie zijn de vrouwen in de Eregalerij van de Nederlandse fotografie?

In het Nederlands Fotomuseum besteden we ieder jaar speciale aandacht aan de vrouwen in onze Collectie en in de Eregalerij. Want het werk van vrouwen is te lang ongezien gebleven. De themaroute ‘Wie zijn de Vrouwen in de Eregalerij?’ neemt je mee langs tien beelden die opgenomen zijn in de Eregalerij van de Nederlandse fotografie.

Between 1932 and 1962 Paul Julien made around fifteen journeys to various countries across Africa. Since 2012, artist and researcher Andrea Stultiens has been studying the position of Paul Julien’s oeuvre within the image and imagination of Africa in the 20th century. The exhibition consists of five parts, each focusing on a particular country or region: Liberia, Sudan, Sierra Leone, a Batwa community living in the Virunga mountains, and Ethiopia.

Op vrijdag 28 juni organiseren we een Zomeravond die helemaal in het teken staat van fotografie en fashion. Ontdek hoe fotografie bijdraagt aan de beeldvorming rondom identiteit en mode. Tijdens deze Zomeravond kun je deelnemen aan verschillende activiteiten, zoals een fotografieworkshop.
