The Nederlands Fotomuseum is the only institution in the Netherlands to have a dedicated photography restoration studio. The studio looks after the Fotomuseum collection as well as those of other museums, individuals, archives and commercial organisations. This makes them experts in the field.
Advice and Quickscan
The museum’s restoration team are specialised in the conservation and management of individual photographs and collections. They know everything about optimum storage conditions and can advise you on this as well. Please contact us for a (free) telephone consultation, or make an appointment for a Quickscan. One of the restorers will then come to view your collection and provide a condition report and advice. Read more about Quickscan.
The restoration studio carries out independent research, belongs to international university and museum networks and participates in projects to contribute to the further development of the relatively new discipline of photography restoration. One of the department’s areas of specialisation is working with daguerreotypes, negatives and photography albums. They also have a specialist library, which can be consulted by prior appointment, and regularly publish their own articles, online dossiers and other papers.
