A grim black-and-white legend specially created for Maasvlakte 2 by the well known artist Marcel van Eeden.
Maasvlakte 2, the land reclamation project in the North Sea that will enlarge the port of Rotterdam, has no history at all, it is like a Blank Slate.

Artist Marcel van Eeden (1965) gives it its own legend. A legend that starts with the sinking of the ship De Cornelia Maersk in the waters of Maasvlakte 2. Van Eeden creates an image story based on photographs from among others the shipping company in Copenhagen. It is a grim, black-and-white legend in which facts & fiction, photography & drawing are mixed.

Marcel van Eeden created this strip cartoon on invitation of the Port of Rotterdam Authority, the Nederlands Fotomuseum and SKOR (Foundation Art and Public Space).
