1917
Eduard (Ed) van Wijk is born on September 3 in Groningen.
1932 The family moves to The Hague. During his elementary schooldays he takes his first photographs, first with a box camera, later with a second-hand Rolleicord.
1939 Obtains his certificate as an assistant dispensing chemist but decides to take up photography as a career. His first major assignment is to photograph the stained-glass windows of the Sint Janskerk in Gouda.
1940-1952 Regular photographer for the Residentie theatre company (the later Haagse Comedie).
1944 Marries Helga Weyman and moves to Willemstraat in The Hague.
1946 A sufferer from asthma, he spends two periods in a Davos sanatorium, where he takes pictures.
1951-1969 Member of the NFK.
1953 Takes photographs of the floods in Zeeland.
1954 The book Nederland. Wonder uit water is published.
1955 The book 's-Gravenhage is published.
1957-1969 Teaches at the Vrije Academie in The Hague.
1958 The books Amsterdam and Rotterdam appear.
1959-1982 Teaches at the School voor Fotografie en Fototechniek in The Hague.
1961-1965 Member of the GKf. The book Leiden appears in 1961.
1963 The books Friesland and Madurodam are published.
1964-1982 Teaches at the Arnhem academy.
1992 Ed van Wijk dies on November 25 in The Hague.
