Nickel van Duijvenboden is the author of the book of essays De grote afwezige (2003) and the novella Plateau (2008). Photography, the medium in which he graduated, plays an important role in his work.

For this dossier he has written three letters: Portrait of Daguerre, An inventor of genius? and Luxury vehicle.
